CARTOON NETWORK ANYTHING

Cartoon Network Anything is a micro-network designed specifically for mobile devices. The app offers an endless stream of interactive mini-games, videos, and activities in 15-second content bites. The app launched with over 400 pieces of unique content and was updated every two weeks with new content to keep the app fresh.

Devices: Tablet, Phone

Platforms: iOS, Google Play

MY ROLE

On this product, I worked directly with the design agency to develop the brand strategy as well as the interaction and interface design of the app. In tandem, I directed the inhouse design team on the ideation and creation of the interactive mini games and activities and helped to define the templates and process for ongoing content creation.

DYNAMIC BRANDING: THE ANYTHING LOGO
A Dynamic Brand for a Dynamic App – Rather than a single static logo, the Cartoon Network Anything app uses an animated logo that shifts and morphs over time. This ever changing logo design captures the dynamic essence of the app itself. Artists from across the company created these hand drawn designs just for the app.

USER INTERFACE: CONTENT FIRST
The clean design of the user interface allows the content to take center stage. A single action word lets the user know what’s coming up next, while a fun character image adds personality and brands each piece of content by show. After each piece of content, kids have a chance to replay or save their favorites for later. A simple swipe mechanic continues the stream.

SWIPE FOR CONTENT GAMES:

Game Templates:
Every piece of content is created exclusively
for the app. More than 30 different game
mechanics were developed. Each game type
has unique inputs and goals.

Gestures:
With only 15 seconds of playtime per game,
instructions must be clear and concise. We designed a series of gesture icons to
quickly communicate each game’s mechanic.

Ratings System:
A high score and three star rating system
were added to the mini-games to add deeper
engagement and encourage replayability
